Smacky's Guide To The Character, Section 5: Armour protections, resistances, & attack types

On this page

Introduction

Armour protections and resistances determine the proportion of damage you can absorb from any particular attack type.

There are 20 different attack types in Daimonin and when you are hit by one of these you will take damage; that is, you will lose hit points. Depending on your armour protections and resistances damage from any or all of these attack types may be reduced by varying amounts.

Armour protections

[Armour protection table]

Armour protections are expressed in percentages. If you have 0% electricity protection you will take maximum damage from an electrical attack, while if you have 50% cleave protection you will take only half damage from a blow from an axe.

Armour protections are determined by the quantity and quality of armour you wear as well as magic currently in effect.

Resistances

Resistances are also expressed in percentages, although they are not recorded on screen.

Resistances work in a very similar way to protections (there are technical differences but these can essentially be ignored).

For any given attack type, if you have either resistance orprotection of 20% the results are the same: an attack for 100 damage will actually only hit you for 100 - 20% = 80. If you have both resistance andprotection of 20% both are taken into account (resistance first): an attack for 100 damage will actually hit for 100 - 20% = 80 - 20% = 64.

Resistances are determined by the quantity and quality of armour you wear as well as magic currently in effect.
