Smacky's Guide To Communication, Section 3: Communicating non-verbally with players nearby -- emoting

Introduction

An emote is a gesture (eg, waving) or physical action (eg, slapping). There are two ways to emote:

Emotes appear in the lower text window in yellow text to other players and white text to you.

Emoting is essentially for fun and has no effect on gameplay.

Predefined emoting

[Predefined emoting]

To predefined emote, use a game command such as "/dance" and a set message will be seen by nearby players.

A complete list of the predefined emotes can be obtained by using the game command"/help emotes" (or referring to "Smacky's Guide To Game Mechanics, Appendix A: Game commands").

[Targeted emoting]

It is possible to predefined emote at a specific player, NPC, or mob. Target the object of your attentions and let rip. Ain't interaction fun?

[NOTE] Emoting at a target in this way has no gameplay effect. It is purely for fun. NPCs and mobs will not respond.

[NOTE] You can also emote at a specific player, NPC, or mob within two tiles of you by typing their name as the first parameter of the emote, as in "/slap <target>".
